Project Joystick winner announced

Company

The winner of the Project Joystick competition has been announced. Sherele Moody's game idea which involves controlling a dung beetle through waste was chosen as the winning entry that will be developed by Melbourne developers, Firemint. As reported from The Age...

The idea came to her when she was watching a David Attenborough documentary about dung beetles. Ms Moody spotted the similarity with the trippy award-winning Japanese game Katamari Damacy ("clump spirit"), in which a ball rolls around collecting debris.

"I've played games all my life," Ms Moody said. "People like me who grew up with Ataris and Pong and that sort of stuff are leading the way ? but games are now everywhere, on iPods, in mobiles."
