THQ Studio Australia, based in sunny Brisbane, Australia, is a developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software. Founded in January 2003 as part of THQ Inc., THQ Studio Australia now employs more than 85 talented staff developing on all major console platforms, including Microsoft Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii. Forthcoming releases include Frontlines: Fuel of War for Playstation 3, and Avatar: The Burning Earth for Playstation 2, Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360.

Creative Director
Required; a highly creative, communicative and methodical director of other like-minded individuals. THQ Studio Australia is looking for that rare breed of creative thinker who knows how to inspire a team, organise thoughts and plan solutions. An understanding of broader company strategy communication as well as managing creative teams essential. The ability to think out of the box, to understand that you don’t always have all the answers, but have methods with which to find them a must.
An exciting new role achievable only by someone able to marry the interests of art, audio, programming and the essential game play experience. Reporting directly to the GM, the Creative Director is a great communicator and the ultimate diplomat and champion of their project. Scope of the role could vary according to experience; from project through to company strategy.
Position:-
- Maintain a cohesive design vision, enthuse and inspire a team of disparate disciplines.
- Oversee both creative and technical design teams.
- Ensure adequate software, hardware and resource support.
- Ensure competitive research with market products.
- Develop and discipline design staff; providing support, goal structure and career guidance.
- Communication and diplomacy with external partners.
- Provide constant feedback on game tuning and balance to the Design team
Requirements:-
- Significant game industry or related experience.
- Proven ability to design engaging gaming experiences.
- At least two published titles and subsequent production experience from concept to delivery.
- Ability to manage others; encourage, mentor and discipline.
- Ability to think like the end user.
- Communication skills to easily liaise with programming, sound, art and animation teams.
- Advanced written English and creative writing skills.
- Visual storytelling interest, a love of movies, books and games a must
- Education - Degree level education preferable
