Lead Artist for Krome Studios
Requirements:
Skills & Knowledge:
* Ability to lead and motivate a team
* A strong understanding of the game production process
* Excellent written and oral English communication skills
* Ability to take direction
* Initiative
* Excellent 3D modeling
* Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
* Excellent understanding of efficient techniques for game production, on both high and low resolution pipelines
* Technically savvy with strong problem solving skills
* Good natural artistic ability and flair
* Mature professional attitude and work ethic
* Attention to detail is essential and all tasks must be carried out to the highest standard possible
Experience & Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years games experience in a senior or sub-lead position
* Degree in a design discipline or demonstrated equivalent
Responsibilities:
Lead Responsibilities:
* Maintain a full understanding of the production pipeline and current milestone requirements.
* Be aware of the teams’ role in the pipeline and those waiting on work to reach a milestone.
* Be aware of potential risks to the project and bring to the attention of senior management.
* Communicate effectively with Producer and all teams (i.e. Engine, Artists, Designers etc)
* Maintain communication with HR, including outlining any staff problems, staffing requirements, training opportunities etc
* Conduct a Master class/roundtable once a year
* Maintain effective documentation, including team standards, any team issues (inc. specific examples) etc.
* Review job applications and provide comment
* Interview applicants as required
Handle day to day management of team, including:
* Monitor quality and speed of work to ensure deadlines are met
* Monitor attendance/absentees
* Provide regular and constructive feedback to team members
* Performance feedback
* Minor grievances and poor employee performance
* Assist individual skill development
* Regular meetings with team members
Lead Artist Responsibilities:
* Ensure that all art is consistent with defined visual style for the game
* Create and maintain style guide, communicate clearly to all artists on team
* Define pipeline for art throughout project
* Manage art sent to publisher, and ensure quality meets Kromes high standards
* Handles technical aspects of the art team: art processes, tools, budgets, texture budgets, task definitions & all pipeline issues
* Maintain a full understanding of the project requirements, and continually work with the Producer to ensure completion within schedule/milestones
* Manage a team of Artists, and art department work allocation
* Utilise tools to ensure art assets are fully optimized for target platforms while minimising any impact on artistic integrity of assets
* Perform additional tasks as requested
* Ensure that personal work is meeting all standards (checking work, check-in procedures, build checklists etc)
