Position Overview

The environment artists are required to model and texture props and the scenery needed to build a complete environment, while adhering to the art style and direction set by the Art Director and Lead Environment Artist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of work quality at all times by combining an artistic talent and technical understanding of game development.
  • Follow and act upon the art direction set by the Art Director and Lead Environment Artist.
  • Follow and maintain project workflows and guidelines and maintain the organisation of assets.
  • Create environments and assets that are visually impressive but also adhere to the technical limitations and dependencies of the engine.
  • Be flexible and accommodating to feedback and game changes in the pursuit of excellence.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Low and High Polygon modelling
  • Texture painting and creation
  • Understanding and creation of Specular, Normal, AO and Reflection maps
  • Baking Normal maps from detailed meshes
  • UVW Unwrapping
  • Be responsive to deadlines and able to work under pressure
  • Intermediate understanding of Photoshop and 3ds Max (or similar 3d package)

Desirable

  • Excellent fine art skills
  • Ability to use Zbrush
  • Self-motivated and a positive customer focused attitude
