Why work for Firemint? - A letter from the CEO (Robert Murray)

Firemint is a Melbourne based game development studio and like most studios, we reckon we are pretty special. We can comfortably say that we are one of the top 3 independent mobile developers in the world in terms of quality, and we are rapidly expanding our platform focus. We work on high profile publisher driven titles alongside our own IP such as Mega Monster.

While we celebrate what we have achieved, what's really important is where we are going next. Our vision is to become the Pixar of the games industry. In order to achieve our vision we need our people to be exercising their skill and creativity to the fullest over a long period of time. This is the strategic reason that we need to focus on a sustainable culture here. That means social needs, career needs and creative needs must be met.

We develop over 10 titles per year for over 7 different publishers, so we enjoy genuinely better terms of trade. That is, we have more leverage and we can't be held to ransom on one key title. We use this leverage to develop better games and better people. As long as our games keep improving, our leverage keeps increasing. Our smaller teams also make it is easier to learn from each other in a positive social environment.

The best reason to work for Firemint is to learn something new, to venture outside your specialty and to take more ownership over your work. We are looking for people who can make rational decisions, solve problems, take responsibility, but also go out on a limb sometimes and bring us something fresh.

If this interests you, come join us, and make a difference!
