3D Art and Animation Teacher for AIE Melbourne

The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE), a leading training school in Game development, 3D graphics and CGI with campuses in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney, is looking for an independent, focused individual to deliver the first year of our Advanced Diploma at our Melbourne campus. The Advanced Diploma is a strongly practical and intensive course that focuses on the core skills needed for 3D modelling, texturing and animation.

The successful applicant will develop, co-ordinate and deliver the course content, administer course requirements, and provide assessment and direction over the school year. Teaching experience is desired, but not necessary. Strong communication skills and commercial 3d graphics experience are essential. The successful applicant will co-ordinate and deliver the course content to students, working within a small, friendly and highly skilled team.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Delivering the course content for the first year of our Advanced Diploma using a combination of lecture style sessions and practical tutorials
- Planning, creation and development of new course materials as required in conjunction with Senior Art Teacher, including creation of lesson plans and tutorials
- Advising and assisting students on both creative and technical issues
- Monitoring student progress including attendance, course competencies, informal and formal assessment
- Handling first year student issues
- Evaluating student course work in both practical and theory exercises

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Detailed, practical, up-to-date knowledge of 3D modelling, texturing and animation using software including, but not limited to Autodesk Maya (primarily) and Photoshop (knowledge of other software packages would be an advantage)
- 3D modelling / animation roles or related industry experience not essential but would be an advantage - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- prior teaching experience an advantage, but not essential.

This position is part time, with negotiable hours for the right applicant.
