The Lead Programmer is responsible for managing the design and implementation of all game code that needs to be created for the project. He/she helps manage the team (programmers specifically) with the Producer and other leads. The Lead Programmer leads the technical approach to development, assesses risk, mentors technical staff and most importantly drives development to the highest possible level.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong C++ as well as other programming language skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of programmers across multiple disciplines (AI, Networking etc.)
  • Able to manage multi-platform development.
  • Solid understanding of all game development areas including AI, physics, networking and so on.
  • Coordinate with fellow project department leads to aid in creation of game art, code and design guides and pipelines.
  • Leads the creation of realistic Technical Design Documents (TDD etc.)
  • Continually assesses and mitigates risk in the project.
  • Sets the vision, planning, staffing and tracking of the project with the Producer and other Leads.
  • Acts as a mentor to all programmers on the team.
  • Is able to take up the slack and help out in most game programming areas if required.
  • Manage or oversee the build processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION/RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience in the same or similar role leading a multi-platform project.
  • Experience developing on 360/PS3/PC and Wii platforms.
  • 5+ yrs game development experience.
