Firemint is looking for a talented web/graphic designer. Come help us make the next generation of web enabled, connected games!
Firemint is a world leading game studio. We design and develop award-winning premium games for handheld devices, including mobile phones, Nintendo DS and iPhone. The video below shows an early prototype of our original IP "Real Racing", which will launch by Christmas 2008 and is an example of our next generation games that include web based game-play, in particular tight integration with social networks. Real Racing allows players to upload videos of their best laps to YouTube from within the game, integrates with Facebook for a Friends Leaderboard and more.
Our Richmond studio employs about 40 smart, talented and friendly people and offers a positive, supportive and fun working environment. Our studio is relaxed but professional (please don't wear a suit!) and close to public transport.
What we’d like you to do for us:
Design beautiful, easy to use web interfaces
Write standards compliant HTML and CSS for a range of devices (PC, phones)
Additional responsibilities will vary depending on your particular skillset but may include:
Design of in-game menus, icons and other GUI elements
Design and illustration of game splash (startup) screens
build backend database systems to drive dynamic sites
Macromedia Flash animation and interactivity
Who we’re looking for:
You play games and are genuinely enthusiastic about working in the games industry. You don’t need to be a hard core or accomplished gamer and it doesn’t matter what genre of games you play or how often, but it’s important that you “get” what games are about and enjoy playing them.
You have a fantastic eye and excellent design aesthetic. When you see an ugly website, a small part of you dies on the inside.
You think implementing usability principles in web design is a good idea, and either already know a lot about how to do this or are keen to learn.
You have 1 to 3 years industry experience, a portfolio of commercial sites, and/or are an extremely talented graduate or junior.
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can convey your ideas clearly, and when you listen, you really hear what others are saying.
Whether you’re young or old, you’re mature, with a professional attitude and work ethic.
We’d love you to throw in some tertiary qualifications in graphic design, AJAX, PHP and/or MySQL skills as well.
A good sense of humour will be highly regarded!
This is a new full-time role based in our studio and reporting to the Development Director, starting ASAP. Please email jobs@firemint.com with an application letter that tells us why you'd like to join our team, and include your portfolio PDF or URL.
Please note that Firemint does not work with recruitment agencies.
