Marketing Co-Ordinator job at Firemint
*** THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED ***
Firemint is one of the best iPhone and iPad game development studios in the world. Our award-winning hit games Flight Control and Real Racing have been immensely successful and have enabled us to now exclusively work on our own games.
Among numerous other awards, we recently won two Apple Design Awards – unprecedented for two apps from one developer in one year. Our games are regularly featured by Apple, including in the global advertising campaign for iPod touch in print, TV and online. Firemint was also honoured with the Australian government’s 2009 Export Award for Art & Entertainment.
Our track record is proof of our “quality over quantity” approach – we genuinely care about the games we make. We have an irrational obsession with polish and creating a fun entertainment experience, and we’re looking for a Marketing Co-Ordinator who wants to help us get the word out through an innovative mix of PR and social media campaigns. This is a new position due to the growth of the publishing side of our business, commencing ASAP.
Your role will be to work with other Firemint team members to support sales of our games, including
* Devise, execute and report on promotional and marketing campaigns to reach our global audience.
* Co-ordinate creation of marketing collateral for game releases and updates, including screenshots and videos; write compelling press releases and copy for game descriptions. Manage distribution of collateral online and to media contacts.
* Maintain database of press contacts, working with Firemint’s PR representative to ensure information is distributed to key outlets.
* Contribute to copy writing for in-game text, and marketing features built into games.
* Work with web designer to implement new sections on firemint.com and keep the site up to date. Write email newsletters and blog posts for firemint.com.
* Generate ideas for Firemint’s Twitter, Facebook and web site presence, and develop and execute approved ideas.
* Monitor online mentions of our brands.
* Manage online advertising, search engine marketing etc.
* Manage promotional product giveaways (mugs, t-shirts etc).
* The scope of the position is likely to grow as our publishing business expands.
Normal office hours will be standard, however some early mornings, late evenings and weekend may also be required around launches or to align with our international audience and contacts. Some national and international travel may be required.
Who we're looking for
* You have at least 3 years experience in a similar consumer-facing role, ideally in an entertainment or online content company.
* You have a relevant degree in marketing or business.
* You communicate clearly, concisely and effectively.
* You have strong experience in PR and social media and an understanding of long tail sales and ongoing relationships via online communities.
* You combine creative flair with an analytical mind. You’re an ideas factory but also believe in measuring the effectiveness of strategies. You have a good grasp of stats and metrics and aren’t afraid to use them. You continuously improve processes and campaigns based on outcomes.
* You manage your own work and meet commitments you make.
* You’re interested in internet and tech trends. An interest in games is essential.
What we can offer you:
* No suits, no meaningless buzzwords, no bull.
* The opportunity to work with a genuine world leader, marketing fantastic products that media and the public are already interested in.
* A great, professional but laid back team environment with some of the smartest and most talented game makers anywhere.
* Light, open-plan modern studio environment in central Richmond location, awesome coffee immediately across the road. Many local cafes, restaurants and shops.
* Close to public transport with various train and tram stops within walking distance.
* Lots of small perks – free fresh fruit, game library, Friday drinks.
* The opportunity to do your best work yet!
