FLAIM Systems is a startup company building the Next Generation of Emergency Services Training Solutions. With FLAIM Trainer® we have created an immersive mobile training system using VR, patented haptics and heat feedback, and real equipment that enables fire services to train safer, train anywhere, train more and train better. Fire Services get more from firefighting training programs and scenarios – and extend training into scenarios that can’t be trained using real world systems and environments.
We are based in Geelong where we build our product.
About the role
As an artist at Flaim Systems you will be working in a small team to develop 3D art assets for virtual reality environments used for first responder training scenarios. You will be working in a small team of devs with one other artist. You will predominantly be working in South Melbourne but will be required to occasionally travel to Geelong to attend meetings with the full Flaim Team.
Initial contract will be full-time for 6 months, renewable.
Your role involves:
Create high quality, game ready 3D models and textures based on source material provided i.e. reference photos, CAD files or technical drawings.
Create assets that fit within polygon and memory budgets based on current generation game technology.
To check your assets and environments in VR.
Work efficiently within a team and independently while delivering tasks on time.
Take direction and work closely with Art team lead.

Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you will need:
A minimum of 3+ years industry experience as a 3D artist.
Minimum of 1 shipped title.
Professional level skills in Maya, Adobe Creative Suite and Substance Painter. zBrush or other HP sculpting a bonus.
Understanding of High to low baking and light map creation workflows.
Experience working in Unity 3D, knowledge of Unity light baking a bonus.
Understanding game development pipelines
Ability to work well under pressure and within deadlines.
Possess the ability to quickly learn and adapt to Art production pipelines
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
Talented and self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
Current portfolio demonstrating your best and most recent work.
