Screen Australia announces All Media Program recipients

Screen Australia have announced the recipients of their new All Media Program with a handful of local games developers making the list. $3-5 million program was launched earlier this year to encourage interactive or multiplatform, innovative storytelling.

Independent games developer, Brawsome, have announced that their Sokoban inspired puzzle adventure game, MacGuffin's Curse, is coming this Halloween to everyone's favourite PC digital distribution service, Steam on October the 27th. While a trailer is coming, they've released a few new screenshots of the game for the meantime.

All you indie developers are probably well aware of the kind of distractions and pitfalls you have when you're working for yourselves at home, but it's well worth noting that happens to pretty much everyone else in the same position and even the simplest tips from fellow indie developers who've been there is well worth considering.

Melbourne independent games developer, Brawsome, are following up their award winning "Best Australian Game" (Freeplay 2010) Jolly Rover title with a very promising new project, MacGuffin's Curse, and they're blogging a whole lot of stuff about it! Want pictures and behind the scenes development stuff? You've got it.

On Tuesday, Melbourne independent developers, Brawsome and Play-bit Entertainment revealed that they were successful in their applications for Film Victoria's Games Investment Program.

Congratulations must go to Brawsome and Play-bit Entertainment on their success of securing the latest round of funding from Film Victoria's Game Investment Program. Andrew Goulding from Brawsome and Chris Watts from Play-bit are not only top blokes but are both extremely dedicated and hard working guys who really are passionate about making games.

Are low prices hurting independent games developers?

At this moment, many gamers around the world are caught up in the pre-Christmas game sales frenzy happening in the DLC space. There are some enormous savings to be had in the Appstore and Steam marketplace with publishers dropping prices on a whole range of their games and independent games developers collaborating on game bundles for incredibly affordable prices. While the sales drops are a drastic cut for games developers, the initial results can extremely rewarding and a successful way of promotion.
