Australia to receive edited version of GTA IV

Submitted by brawsome on Fri, 04/04/2008 - 5:16pm

Rockstar has pre-cut their upcoming GTA IV for MA15+ Australian classification. This move is understandable considering every past version of GTA since it went to 3D has had to either be removed from shelves and cut, or cut to receive classification. The game, which has been classified MA15+ has been advised to contain advising "strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references". Rockstar declined to say what had been cut.
GTA has a release date of April 29 in Australia.

The 360 in Australia, two years on

The 360 has been retailing in Australia for over two years now, and Screenplay thought it a good time to catch up with Xbox Product Marketing Manager Jeremy Hinton on a wide range of topics. The interview covers, the successes, such as Xbox Live, as well as the failures, such as the Red Ring and HD-DVD, of the 360 so far, as well as the retail pricing of games in Australia, television and movie downloads and briefly touching upon our R18+ (or lack of) classification issue.

As some of you may have been aware, on Friday Attorney Generals from each state met in South Australia to discuss, among other things, the R18+ classification for games. The result of the meeting was an agreement to canvas public opinion on the proposed introduction of the R18+ rating for games.
The Deputy Premier and Attorney-General Rob Hulls was positive about the agreement to consult on whether the R18+ classification should be introduced to the National Classification Scheme.
