Gnomic Studios is a game developer based in Perth, Western Australia.
[edit] History
It was founded in early 2009 by programmer Aranda Morrison with artists Scott Millar and Adam Matera to develop a game for Microsoft’s Dream.Build.Play. competition. Over the course of development, the team gained Jeremy Prestwood doing sound design & production and Joel Taylor doing musical composition & production.
The finished product, Square Off, ranked 15th overall and was second place for Australia. With the success of placing in the top 20 Gnomic then decided to develop Square Off for release for the Xbox Live Indie Gamer (XBLIG) platform. The final product was released on December 17th, 2009 to critical acclaim and has continued to be a popular choice on the marketplace.
Not wanting to rest on their laurels, Gnomic continued to work on Square Off, adding more levels, more music and more features. During this time they also gained 3 extra team members: Josh Stewart as QA lead & programmer, Ben Schroeder as QA support & programmer and Ben Wright as PR and media. Their hard work culminated in Gnomic releasing the first major patch for Square Off on July 19th, 2010 via XBLIG for free. To celebrate this patch, Square Off’s price was also recently lowered to $1 (80 MS points). Gnomic are now contemplating working on a sequel for Square Off and releasing the original for PC. They are also looking to branch out into other games and platforms like Android, iPhone and Windows Phone.
