[edit] History

Established in 1999

Krome Studios founders were previously part of Interactive Binary Illusions, and GeeWhiz Entertainment, makers of Halloween Harry, Zombie Wars, and Flight of the Amazon Queen.

John Passfield: Krome Studios began in 1999 when RobertWalsh (CEO), myself and SteveStamatiadis (Development Director) joined forces to create an independent game development company dedicated to making games we all loved and believed in. We also felt that there was a tremendous opportunity to grow the Australian gaming market. Though Australia isn't really known as a gaming hotbed to the outside community, it's got some of the best talent and developers in the world. [2]

Employed 180 people in 2006 [3]

Krome Studios® is Australia's largest video game company and a leading worldwide independent developer. Best known for creating the TY the Tasmanian Tiger™ series, which is Australia's best selling game of all time, having sold over 2 million units worldwide to date.

Mr. Walsh has and continues to foster key relationships that have resulted in strong partnerships with major international publishers such as Activision, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Disney Interactive, Mattel, Vivendi, and THQ, to name a few. His role demands that much of his time is spent traveling and meeting with partners and prospective contacts. Mr. Walsh's strategy for Krome is to maintain a friendly, team-oriented atmosphere with an emphasis on providing the resources needed to make each project a success.
