Lucid Software Design was found in October of 2001 by a group of people brought together by their shared love of computer games and a common desire to create some of their own. Once we were started, we quickly began researching into what makes a game. Not just graphics, not just programming, but global thought and a constant vision throughout.
However, skill aside, due to the current over-saturation of every gaming platform and our current lack of products, we were not able to gain a publisher for any of our titles, so we decided the only way we could make our mark in the gaming world was to take huge risks, risks that will hopefully pay off big.
With our new marketing strategy called YourWare™, we plan to revolutionize the way games are developed and published, by giving developers a larger slice of royalties and giving gamers a more active role in the development of a game.
It also allows newcomers to the gaming industry to get a better head-start, because we've found that the gaming industry is one of the biggest Catch-22 industries in the world: You have to be in the business to get in the business, regardless of skill or talent. With YourWare™, if you have both the talent and the skill, you can get noticed and gain popularity much faster and easier.
We here at Lucid plan to bring the best games we possibly can into the gaming world, and while we're here, turn the whole commercial world on its head and bring more freedom to everyone. Now that aint half bold, now is it? ;)
