I've recently failed at the THQ programmers test and i dont wish them to lower their standards. It just means i have to hit the books harder and fill the gaps in my own knowledge.

Just came across this job opening at careerone.com.au:

C++ GAMES PROGRAMMERS

This is the opportunity of a lifetime - do you want to join an expanding market leader and become an integral part of their team? Now is your chance...

I am looking for games programmers with a proven background in console programming (PS2, GameCube, XBox). This is essential - please do not apply if you do not have this experience.

You should have a minimum of 2yrs C++ programming experience alongside excellent problem solving abilities. This would suit a self-starter who loves the world of games development. A strong background of 3D math and graphics is essential.

There are opportunities in Brisbane also.
