Art Lead - VR Gaming

Digital Lode is a Melbourne-based indie developer focused on making great consumer VR games.

We are looking for a talented Art Lead to help navigate the exciting new phase of growth in the company, as a senior you will lead by example and help develop and implement new processes, and structure into the team.

We are passionate about providing a workplace that is fun, friendly and maintains a great work-life balance for all our staff, avoiding the pitfalls of burnout.

Responsibilities:

  • Continuing the direction established by our Concept Artist for our next major title as a Product Owner
  • Develop and document effective processes for implementing art into game according asset workflows and processes
  • Responsible, along with Concept Artist, for implementation of a cohesive art style across the game
  • Maintain our already healthy workplace culture and outstanding work ethic
  • Actively mentor less experienced artists
  • Assist in regular sprint planning
  • Work on art in the area that best suits your abilities (character art, environment art, animation, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Experience with Maya (or willing to transfer skills), Substance Painter/Designer & Photoshop
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Ability to work onsite and when required off-site (due to Covid 19)
  • Ability to self manage, prioritise tasks and be well-organized with excellent attention to detail

Preference to applicants with:

  • Environment art skills
  • UE4 Experience
  • VR Experience highly valued
  • Shipped 2+ titles
  • Experience working with Agile and Scrum development frameworks
