Toast VR is looking for a Technical Artist specialised in tool development. The ideal
candidate will be a jack of all trades able to work independently from a brief, helping guide
the technical art within a VR title. You will have a strong understanding of how to combine
artistic vision with technology.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update tools that help speed up artistic development
  • Supporting level designers with tools they require to speed up level design
  • Bridging the gap between developers, level designers and the art team
  • Creating and maintaining modular asset sets
  • Level Lighting
  • Shaders
  • Stylized VFX implementation
  • Aiding with the optimisation of assets and levels
  • UI Implementation

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of content creation tools such as Maya, 3DS Max or Blender
  • Experience with Houdini and Houdini Engine
  • Experience with Unity
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience as a 3D artist
  • Ability to work independently and QA your own work
  • Able to converse in English
  • Excellent time management skills
  • An up to date portfolio showcasing a selection of technical art, demonstrating a solid understanding of the technical skills required to build a variety of tools

Bonus Points:

  • You have a passion for stylized art
  • You enjoy creating environments
  • You are able to rig within Maya
  • Knowledge of node based programs such Houdini and Substance Designer
  • High level Scripting knowledge such as Python, MEL, C#
  • Experience with VR &/or mobile game development
  • Self motivated and proactive
  • At least one published title

The ideal candidate will be able to work in-studio, at our office in Burleigh Heads, Queensland.
However, remote work is an option for the right candidate.
