Mighty Games is an independent games studio founded in 2013 and based in Melbourne. We specialise in making smart little mobile games that pack a big punch. While our focus is on colourful, casual social games, we also create digital products for VR, AR and social impact. Some of our previous games include Shooty Skies, Disney Crossy Road, Charming Runes, Piffle and the forthcoming VR shmup Shooty Skies Overdrive.
Junior Game Designer (Level Design Focus)
Mighty Games is hiring a Junior Game Designer (Level Design focus) for a six-month paid contract. The Junior Game Designer will work with art, engineering and design to support some of our existing free-to-play games and help us develop new titles.
Work with other game designers, developers and artists to implement new features and systems in released games and prototypes in development.
Contribute to new business development pitches and concepts.
Craft thoughtful and engaging puzzle levels using an arsenal of different game mechanics.
Playtest and gather feedback on new puzzle levels (which you’ll also create and iterate on!)
Help plan regular game updates and brainstorm new game mechanics, shop design and special in-game events.
Create and maintain design documentation.
Revisit and rebalance existing levels, with an emphasis on managing difficulty and fun.
Assist in testing new features, monitoring performance and tracking feedback.
Support production and help keep track of development tasks.
Who We’re Looking For
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Victoria to apply.
As a small studio, we all wear more than one hat, and the Junior Game Designer will be working as a core part of the team. An eye for detail and the ability to take constructive feedback is essential. We’ll be impressed by shipped titles, previous internships and professional experience, but we’re also interested in candidates with curiosity, a cool side project, or a willingness to learn.
Other areas you may gain exposure to include production, sound design, QA and new business development.
Previous experience with Unity engine, interest in mobile games and appreciation of a good pun is a plus.
