Lead Artist / Art Director - Mode Games

We are seeking a Lead Artist / Art Director to create and direct artwork for the development of mobile and desktop games. The artist must have experience with creating 2D and 3D content for Unity 3D with a focus on production of high quality and fun games.

The artist will have experience with asset production for at least 2 released games ranging from small to moderate in size and complexity. As a small Game Development Studio the skills we require at Mode are often broad, quite often challenging but always fun! The artist will require exceptional drawing and communication skills and be able to utilize Photoshop and Illustrator so they can produce when needed assets required directly for use in the games we are developing.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide 2D Artwork as part of concept art for the development of games
  • Direct and work with 3D and Concept Artists to satisfy quality control and high standards of artwork requirements for development of games
  • Work as a team with all members to provide materials as needed for the development of games
  • Play test, provide feedback and quality control the development of games
  • Attend on and off-site client meetings to present art and game content
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures
  • Have an positive attitude in the workplace to create a comfortable and relaxed work environment for other contractors and employees
  • Other minor tasks as directed
  • Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Intermediate hand drawing skills with pen and pencil
  • Experience with Unity 3D and 3D modelling tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Organised and able to set and meet deadlines

  • Ensure your desk is clean and presentable at all times
  • This position is initially a long term contract with the potential for full-time employment. The contact is for 6 months depending on experience and weekly contract rates. Candidates must attend an interview and work on site within our vibrant Sydney Office.
