App My State $100,000 competition

Hey, do you want to win stuff? Are you based in Victoria? All you have to do is create an iPhone/iTouch app that is useful for Victorians.
The competition, which is being launched later this month by the Victorian Government, is aimed at encouraging Victoria's finest IT innovators to create an app that will benefit all of Victoria's citizens. They're also opening up a whole bunch of data which you'll be able to use for your app as well, including maps of local hospitals, crime statistics, and water resources data.
“For the first time the Victorian Government will bring together over 50 datasets for developers to build applications for residents, visitors, businesses – and even government.
“Much of the information in the datasets is already available – but for the first time it will be accessible through a central portal.”
Keep your eye out on www.premier.vic.gov.au later this month, or follow the official App My State twitter account, for the launch of the competition!
