Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies Review Roundup

Yes, I'm a little bit late on this one, but I thought it would be interesting to get a review roundup of Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies, the first title completely developed by THQ Studio Australia, in Brisbane. Jimmy Neutron was released mid-September, and these are the closing comments various online reviewers gave the game...

"Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies is a decent budget title. While lacking the kind of depth found in the typical platformer, Attack of the Twonkies manages to dish out mild amusement through a nifty invention system. Sure, it doesn?t feature the kind of infinite customization mature gamers have come to expect from modern item creation systems seen in non-budget games, but it gets the job done. Flying and driving sequences add a little flair to the game, as does the visual style and sense of humor ripped straight from the TV show. It's great for kids, but older gamers need to look elsewhere for their platforming cravings."

- IGN (Gamecube)

"Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies is probably a perfect example a cartoon-licensed title. The underpinning gameplay is decent but the game uses the license to really spruce things up. Creating the many items and Gizmos in the game is quite fun, just like the rest of the game."

- PGNX Media

"Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies is certainly a good GameCube title to pick up for twenty bucks right off the bat. The platforming can be fun and the rocket ship missions in between are even better. However, considering the extraordinarily short length and simple gameplay, this can only be recommended to a handful of people."

- Nintendo Dojo

"I have to admit Attack of the Twonkies is more enjoyable than I thought it would be since I?m probably not the demographic they are targeting with this title. Twonkies is pretty cute and a nice change of pace to the current games on the shelf at home. While Twonkies may be simple and easily figured out it is still offers a decent amount of fun to gamers. "

- My Gamer

"For adults, I can't really recommend Attack of the Twonkies. Its gameplay is flat, slow and at times extremely repetitive compared to other platformers on the 'Cube. However, the game's simplicity combined with relatively open exploration makes it a decent purchase for younger fans of the show and should provide many hours of nonviolent entertainment"
