Info on LA Noire posted on blog

Company

Kotaku reports on a blog posting which has some new interesting information on Team Bondi's highly ambitious, and still fairly secretive, L.A Noire detective thriller. The most interesting point is that L.A Noire is not likely to come out for the Xbox 360 platform, because the sheer size of the game will not fit on a DVD disk. Other developers have hit the limitations of the single DVD size for the Xbox 360 and plan to release their game in multiple discs (which would mean that their games would have to be linear), but because of the free-roaming nature of of L.A Noire, it would be just too problematic...

From the blog...

* The game will be a free-roaming title with a historically-accurate recreation of Los Angeles in 1947.
* Team Bondi has even hired a costume designer to research the clothing of the era so the game's attire can be accurate.
* Aside from main story, side missions will be based on actual cases pulled straight of the newspapers of 1947.
* A US Marine plays a big role in the story.
* Not so exclusive...but LA Noire definitely ain't coming to Xbox 360, the size of the game is an obstacle to this.

It was recently revealed that Team Bondi are using an innovative patented "Motion Scan technology" that has been describe as a new form of performance capture, and it's possible that this technology accounts for the large requirements and needs for the Blue-ray disc format.

Be interesting to see if their performance capture technique is hype or not. The fact that the animation data is such a huge size makes it questionable.
