News type:

Hi folks, we have some footage of the recently held Game Connect: Asia Pacific 2007 conference, and we'll be slowly putting up what we have over the coming weeks and months.

If you've never been to the local industry awards night before or were curious as to how the industry celebrates its achievements, then be sure to download this! The GCAP:07 awards night was definitely one to remember for me, and I do highly recommend that conference patrons on attending that as a great way to finish off the event. Good food, drinks, meeting and chatting with fantastic industry people, what more could you want!

We have for you today the footage of the console debate and the closing presentation for the Game Connect 07 conference! The footage we have for you below contains:

Saturday 4:50 - 5:50pm: PlayStation 3 vs Wii vs Xbox 360 : Which console will deliver the great games of the future? Participants: Tony Albrecht, Cameron Dunn, David Hewitt

The Debate
The PlayStation 3 vs Wii vs Xbox 360 debate was one of the highlight sessions (one of many!) at the conference, and will be remembered for many things such as David Hewitt's sidesplitting presentation, Tony and Cameron's dodgy moustaches, and the introduction of the "Tony" scale. How many Tony's does it take to render fun? 2.

The debate was helmed by The Age journalist, Jason Hill, (who also runs Screenplay), and the speakers were:

Tony Albrecht, Senior Engine Programmer, Pandemic Studios (for Playstation 3)
Cameron Dunn - Chief Technical Officer, IR Gurus (for Xbox 360)
David Hewitt, Creative Director, Tantalus (for Nintendo Wii)

It's a lighthearted and very humorous debate, and I give it 5 out of 5 Tony's.

The Closing presentation
Right after the debate, Matt Curtis from the AIE presented the winners of the Sony student scholarship, then the winner of the Independent Games competition was awarded.

The finalists were:

Qantm College, Team Sumo "Mawashi Madness"
Southbank Institute of Technology "Island Hoppers"
AIE, Team Q "Sajiki"
Moxy Studios "Kami"
AIE, Catching Jack Team "Catching Jack"

And finally, the closing speech by GDAA president, Tom Crago for the Game Connect Conference. So, what are you waiting for? Get downloading!!
