Xbox 360 price drop in Australia and New Zealand

I was actually going to make a poll on Sumea when the American Xbox 360 price reduction was announced a while ago. In light of the Sony PS3 discount / bundle controversy, the poll asked what we'd get instead of an actual price reduction for the 360, all in good humour, of course...

Well, it's all pretty unnecessary to do that now since the folk at Microsoft deemed our location worthy of a real price reduction, and it's as follows..

Australia
20GB-enabled Xbox 360 Pro system : $579.95 (reduced from $649). However, many have commented that they have been able to purchase the core system from places like JB-Hifi for a much lower cost already...
Xbox 360 Core system : $399.95 (reduced from $429), the same price as the Nintendo Wii.

New Zealand
Xbox 360 Pro system :from $720 down to $650
Core version : from $550 down to $450, less than the Wii.

The prices come into effect on August 20, and you can find more details at IGN AU or stuff.co.nz...
