Games censorship raised on ABC's Q&A

One of the issues raised during last week's Q&A on ABC television was the subject of R-ratings for video games. Now's your chance to watch how misinformed people are about games!

Joining them were journalist and author of "Inside Kevin 07", Christine Jackman, and Chief Executive of the Australian Industry Group, Heather Ridout.

Fast forward the video to about 44 minutes and 20 seconds in and you'll get to enjoy a fairly unsatisfying debate on classification for those "violent games where you kill people" and why we need to save the children.

As per the title of my comment, that was weak. All but one of them showed little objectivity, most of them were totally ill-informed about the existence of the ratings system, and they all skirted the issue about whether or not adults should have the right to choose to play these games, they just needlessly divert attention to the topic of how these games are perverting our kids.

*sigh*

This is what we are up against though, and it looks like we have to just deal with it for a while before we can get people into parliament with the inclination and the reasonable'ness' to change this.
