I was wondering what tunes ppl listened to while they worked and in general of course? :)
Aenima is probably my fav tool album, but the only other one i've got is undertow, so I guess I'm a litte bit limited in that regard.
Metallica have sucked ever since '...and Justice For All'
Somehow, Cliff Burton's death triggered some capitalistic synapse in the remaining member's brains. Only one album managed to be any good without him (that is ...and Justice for All')
Impact Records here in Canberra has some/a copy of Salival, except it is the CD/Video combo instead of the CD/DVD combo.
Site is www.impactrecords.com.au
The first three tracks of Undertow are awesome, but then the rest of the album starts to become a little too repetative. Opiate isn't too bad, but it has a very strong garage sound to it.
Parabola is definitely may favourite song at the moment, and it would have to be, I just spent the last few months working on an animated version(my own interpretation of the music)for school[:D]
I've only got laturalus at the moment so I guess I have a couple more thing I need to add to my Christmas list

Yeah, I'd have to say Aenima is my fav tool album, followed by Salival because of the live "Third Eye" and "Pushit" tracks...Although Tool are probably the best live, even though I've only seen them once...
Lucky you, I've never seen them Live or A Perfect Circle but next time they tour I'm totally there.
Went to a Living End Concert Last Night @ Castle Hill Tavern. It was [:0]AWESOME[:0]. One of the best Live performances I've seen.
wow this post is old but hey just tell you what i like, most people seem to like rock, i luv rap but i luv rock as well so i'll just tell you my rock stuff.
Mudvayne, Static-X, (hed)pe, P.O.D, Ratm, Audioslave, Sepultura, Mushroomhead, Fear Factory, Chimaira, Soulfly, Deftones, Ill Nino, Machine Head, Spineshank, Disturbed, Slipknot & that's about it.
As you can see i only like heavy stuff no pussy shit.
I also dispise Punk rock, blink is gay.
OPETH! I pretty much listen to Opeth all day every day.
Otherwise... Skinny Puppy, Ministry, KMFDM, Leaether Strip, Legendary Pink Dots.. I've pretty much gone back in time!
As far as new stuff... The Darkness cracks me up. Fear Factory's new cd (which is demanufacture anyway)... DamagePlan (which is Pantera minus Phil pretty much)... everything is recycled
etro atm... soon I'll be cool again!
Scott.

WTF? Somehow it reset my post to just the quote?
Basically I said all you guys have great taste and that I got Opeth's Blackwater Park the other week and havn't stopped listening to it since!
Otherwise I listen to
Radiohead
Portishead
Led Zepplin
Nirvana
The Doors
Hendrix
Pink Floyd
AFI
Thrice
Autopilot Off
Rancid
Frenzal Rhomb
Ensign
and of course many others...
Moonunit - yes i have there new album it's called the end of all thing to come. oh and rap still kick arse, all to their own ;) and i agree that the darkness is awful.
Rezn0r - demanufacture isn't fear factoy's new one, it is actually quite old, the new one is archetype and then before that was hatebreed before that concrete, before that digimortal before that obsolete, then before that demanufacture. :P
HazarD - Yeah sepultura are one of the greatest metal bands of all time IMO. I only have Chaos AD but it owns.
at work at the moment I'm listening to a lot of two types of music -
First category is the bopping work music like Paul Oakenfold, Chemical Brothers, KMFDM, Crystal Method, etc. Great to get stuck into work mode.
Second category is a lot of epic orchestral type of stuff. Soundtracks from Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, a -lot- of Hans Zimmer, Russian Red Army Choir, etc.
This stuff fits in really well with the actual work... it's kinda like mood music [:)]
Ive been meaning to get my hands on crystal methods latest. I suppose i should list my listenings:
Mudvayne
Crystal method
Fatboy slim
John Butler trio (admit it, everyone likes zebra)
Jet
REM
The Mars Volta
Nirvana
Powerman 5000
Prodigy
Rob Zombie
Metallica
Queens of the Stoneage
and many more :P there just a few that spring to mind
Segression is a band I 'technically' shouldn't like.. But godamn, alot of their songs are catchy. I wouldn't say they are sepultura wannabes.. Really having trouble finding similarities. The album 'smile' has a very slow tempo, which I like.. Sepultura is generally much quicker. I used to be a big sep fan.. But grew out of them
Daysend played in Canberra on friday.. I didn't go.. I can't say I'm the biggest fan, they're good for something different though... Really gone off the death metal-singing.
Well since i dont work i can only quote bands i like (In no particular order):
The Dandy Warhols (Their new album is kind of dull)
Zwan
The Smashing Pumpkins
Nine Inch Nails (Some of their stuff is ok, they did the soundtrack for Quake and are doing the soundtrack for Doom 3 supposebly, their ID's friends i guess [:p])
Rage Against The Machine (Only some of their stuff)
Thursday (Once again only some of their stuff)
Sparta (Some of their stuff)
Jimmy Eat World (As usual, some of their stuff)
I cant think of anymore but thats basically a small list [:p]. Im an all rounda i guess!

I was meaning that not a lot has changed since demanufacture, and archetype isn't too different... they haven't evolved over 8 years. Not necessarily bad, but in my old age I'm sick of the retro and rather prefer the progressive... artists like Reznor (the real one, not me), and Bowie that evolve for example. Otherwise I've heard it all before.
Gooberman and I met Fear Factory a while back at the Indie Temple for beers and a listen to archetype... they're pretty cool guys. I asked Burton if their new cd was as cool as metallicas new cd. [:P]
Ray is the champ tho... and he runs a game audio company on the side.
Peace out,
Scott.
quote:kinda ironic how u say "heard it all before" then say u like the old stuff reznor :P ;)
Yeah I know. [:P]
but the new is the old, so its still the original and the best. It doesn't seem like anyone has anything to say these days. Maybe I'm just getting too old.
quote:isn't reznor one of the guys from nine inch nails or something.
Yeah Trent Reznor IS nine inch nails.
Scott.
Aenima is my favourite Tool album. It's actually the first Rock album I ever got and still one of my favourites.
All cool MC. Metallica even got I my nerves when they took on Napster, but my way of looking at it is if Metallica hadn't have done it somebody else would have.
