There are a few areas that I could use some more work, but I dont have enough time to continue working on this. Was good fun though :)

Oops, I was supposed to post pics that are texture on model unlit 100% self illumination and texture on model lit. These are just 60% self-illumination, sorry.

Just a quick note about the smoothing group seams in the rendered images - if you import the .3ds because that format is kinda bugged, you'll need to select all vertices and weld with a real low threshold since the mesh itself is broken up a little on import; this'll fix it.

Good job Makk - there's a few areas which could use some attention but otherwise a great job. Few little niggles I see are:

-Colour variations are needed (red around the nose, slight purple/blue tint where the skin is thin under the eyes, ears a little more pinky flesh toned etc)
-Nose is quite flat - rounding that off and giving it a little bit of a highlight from the skins oil that noses seem to get)
-eyes need another detail pass - tear ducts, eyelashes etc)

Good job. With better smoothing it would probably look a lot better. I agree with JI's comments, but I would like to add one more.

His lips are just a bit too sharp. It looks like you followed the meshes' wireframe a little too much. If you were to round the lips off a little it would look a lot better.

I really like his stubble though. Gives him a great 'sassy' feeling. Looks a little too much like Max Payne though.... just not as constipated (thank God).

Well done again.

Small update

I adding some small colour varition, tweaked the eyes abit, lowered the eye brows and tried fixing the lips. Speaking of the lips, I hate em! I cant seem to paint them at all, frustrating!!

Styles: I tried adding some more colour varition into the nose, eyes an ears, I wanted to be subtle, but maybe its too subtle. Thanks for the crits and helping with fixing the smoothing.

Aven: I tried rounding off the lips some more, but it was hard as the lips are hard edges. Now that you mention it, he does kinda look like Max Payne, hopefully not as constipated!!

This question man sound really dumb - but why is the unwrap of the face consist of more than just a dead split down the middle ?.. ie the whole nose is included...and the lips,..

Does this save you from the hideous seem running up the nose type thing ?? or am i way off the mark ?

Dw makk, max payne was one of the oddest facial skins ever. The funniest thing is that it was photo sourced, meaning someone said "ok pose for max" and someone screwed up their face like they were sucking on a lemon on purpose :P .

Anyways, youve done well with the model youve got to work with, its rather blocky. The only thing that really stands out to me is that the corners of his eyes seem to be a bit stretched on both side but thats probably a model limitation

Heh, I havent looked at this in ages. Man those lips are horrible and I was lazy with the neck area!!
Hazard: You might have to ask Styles for taht since he mapped it, but Im guessing it was done so you could have a bit of assymetry on the face, so you could put in spots, freckles, etc.........but I was too lazy!
MoonUnit: Thanks :) Yeah there is a bit of stretching around the eye, could be the texture or model or even the UV map.
