Some sad news for the local industry. Brisbane developers, Evolution Games have closed it's doors. Details are, however, unknown at this time. Evolution Games were awarded for Best New Start-Up at the Australian Games Developer Conference 2002, and released Rocket Power: Beach Bandits for the Gamecube in Sept 02.

Evolution Games in the Herald Sun

The Herald Sun has an article with 2002 AGDC best new startpup winners, Evolution Games. They talk about Evolutions recent success with Rocket Power : Beach Bandits."Evolution Games, has already finished one game that sold more than 305,000 copies and gained overseas accolades.

It might not get as much coverage as other titles, primarily because it is a kids game, but IGN has a review of this game by Evolution games."In the end, Rocket Power junkies will probably still find the play experience in the game enjoyable. There are, to the title's credit, a number of entertaining events to compete in, the world itself is large and full of recognizable characters and the variation is commendable.

THQ signs Evolution Games

Evolution Games, who are based in Queensland, have just snapped up a deal with THQ (which I 'think' is to continue developing for them.. if I'm wrong, let me know). Evolution games are in the final stages of developement of 'Rocket Power Beach Bandits' for PlayStation2 and GameCube.."This will be the first GameCube title released by an Australian developer, and represents a significant milestone for Evolution Games.
