Sumea Pixel Town!!!!

  • In my first and previous post in this game dev log entry, I had written that I wanted to do a game which was a collection of simple retro games. Unity released a new major release (2019.3) while I was putting the initial project together, and I…

  • Well, I'm making a game . I'm spending the next few weeks on making a small game to showcase the gamedev log feature on tsumea where any member can create a game entry and other members can post journal posts with art, music or just development…

  • Just a test #2. Still working on the new section.

  • So, I got a Commodore 64 when I was in the 4th grade. It came bundled with a Rolf Harris picture building program on casette tape which never loaded properly but from what I could tell by its box cover, you could build pictures from a selection…

  • Yes, the site looks very different and I've had to prematurely switch to this new theme that I'm working on for a few reasons, the main one is that changing certain aspects of the site to fit the new theme will affect how the old one looks for…

  • (this is just a test, please ignore this entry)

Here is some of my old work.. the first pic is of a 3d model of a human head I was working on about 2 years ago in 3dsmax, using nurbs. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't model a head with…

Ok, this is the new Draw Club activity, and it's a simple one. It shouldn't take you much time to do at all! It's the Sumea Pixel Town activity!!

http://www.sumea.com.au/sumeatown.asp
To participate, you first have to reserve your plot of land. Post in here which number you want. Some land is bigger than others, so if you don't intend to spend too much time on pixelling some art, choose the smaller ones. Once you reserve your land, take a snapshot of the webpage, chuck it in photoshop, and do your pixel-fu. When you're done, post a gif of only your area in this forum, and I'll grab it and add it to the page.
Everyone's welcome to participate (yes, even you coders!), and go nuts with ideas!! (it doesn't necessarily have to be of a house).

(btw, I'll be redesigning the logo/page a bit later.. just wanted to get the map up atm [:)])

But then two sweet weeks at Sunshine coast (Sounds like a rip-off of the Gold Coast [:p]).

People take their time on things, be patient! [:)].

Sorry about this, but tbag said something that I can't ignore.

tbag:

Huh?! What the hell makes you think that?

Okay, I'm a regular surfer of the Sunshine coast (and sometimes the Gold and Tweed coasts), so now I have no choice but to rant [:P]

(Begin surfer rant)

Err- I?m guessing from that statement that you?ve never been to the Sunshine Coast. Let me tell you, it is nothing like the Goldie! The Sunny Coast has kilometres of pristine beaches with hardly a building visible from the beach (with the exception of Maroochydore and bits of Caloundra). The beaches have some beautiful banks causing some awesome, fun little surf, making it the ideal place to catch a few waves and just chill-out. The locals around the Sunny coast are generally way more laid back and mellow then those of the Goldie (being such a low population area, I suppose), and in general the Sunshine Coast is possibly the best place in the world to relax and unwind (IMO).

At the moment there is some awesome swell around the 6 foot mark, which will soon reduce down to about 1 meter where it should stay for a couple of weeks. And this time of year is the perfect time to go temperature wise. Two weeks at the Sunshine Coast? Half your luck! If you don?t surf already I strongly suggest taking it up while your there! ?You can get an old board from one of the many surf shops for under $100, and if you keep trying, by the end of the two weeks you?ll be ripping those glassy faces and then you?ll never look back! And if you do already surf, then you are in for a treat. (Only problem is the crowds do increase over Easter, but it?s nothing compared to the crowds of the Goldie).

(/end surfer rant)

Have fun! [:D]

Yeh, on the Gold Coast there are a lot of surfers over the holidays. I don't like it when they comes in close and hit you in the head, most likely I would be the only one here to be hit in the had by a surfboard ,ha . Hope you have fun on your Holiday. You can visit Aussie World, Ettamogah Pub(spelling most likely wrong) and the other minor theme parks they have there. Nothing like the Gold COast ones though, :D .
I would do another one if there were plots left and I didn't have so much with school. What annoys me is that people have had plots reserved for ages and not done anything on them yet, hurry up people.

Submitted by FireFlight on Tue, 30/03/04 - 6:27 AM Permalink

Does anyone except old parents trying to be cool with their kids say that anymore.

Submitted by palantir on Tue, 30/03/04 - 11:18 PM Permalink

Yeah, I think people trying to pay out on surfers say that... [:(]

Sorry again about the rant - I just got a bit offended by someone calling the Sunshine coast a rip-off.

Anyway, is there any chance that people with unused plots might want to give them away to people who will actually use them??

No need, I have it now. You have to copy and paste the link since Deviant art doesn't like direct links to images on their server.

You have your tavern anti-aliased on a white background, which means there are bits of white/lightbrown around the edges of your tavern. When I place it on something with a totally different background (green), they stick out. That's why it shouldn't be anti-aliased for this reason.
Also you have the perspective wrong. You'll see what I mean in the image below:

Take a look at number 59 by Matias as an example, and perhaps use his lines as a guide.

What's going on, why aren?t people building on their vacant plots? Does Sumea town smell funny or something?

Come on you slackers! What kind of game developer do you think you'll make if you can't even finish this little fun task?!
