Sumea Pixel Town!!!!

  • In my first and previous post in this game dev log entry, I had written that I wanted to do a game which was a collection of simple retro games. Unity released a new major release (2019.3) while I was putting the initial project together, and I…

  • Well, I'm making a game . I'm spending the next few weeks on making a small game to showcase the gamedev log feature on tsumea where any member can create a game entry and other members can post journal posts with art, music or just development…

  • Just a test #2. Still working on the new section.

  • So, I got a Commodore 64 when I was in the 4th grade. It came bundled with a Rolf Harris picture building program on casette tape which never loaded properly but from what I could tell by its box cover, you could build pictures from a selection…

  • Yes, the site looks very different and I've had to prematurely switch to this new theme that I'm working on for a few reasons, the main one is that changing certain aspects of the site to fit the new theme will affect how the old one looks for…

  • (this is just a test, please ignore this entry)

Here is some of my old work.. the first pic is of a 3d model of a human head I was working on about 2 years ago in 3dsmax, using nurbs. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't model a head with…

Ok, this is the new Draw Club activity, and it's a simple one. It shouldn't take you much time to do at all! It's the Sumea Pixel Town activity!!

http://www.sumea.com.au/sumeatown.asp
To participate, you first have to reserve your plot of land. Post in here which number you want. Some land is bigger than others, so if you don't intend to spend too much time on pixelling some art, choose the smaller ones. Once you reserve your land, take a snapshot of the webpage, chuck it in photoshop, and do your pixel-fu. When you're done, post a gif of only your area in this forum, and I'll grab it and add it to the page.
Everyone's welcome to participate (yes, even you coders!), and go nuts with ideas!! (it doesn't necessarily have to be of a house).

(btw, I'll be redesigning the logo/page a bit later.. just wanted to get the map up atm [:)])

Is that okay if I do another one Souri, or would you rather leave it for someone who hasn?t done one yet? I?ll wait for your reply before I start.

Palantir's piece is up, and it looks fantastic [:D] Just one more to go! (which I'm taking)

Ok, it's done! Pixel Town is complete! I'vce just uploaded my little piece (number 67). Yesterday, I spent *40* minutes waiting in line at Krispy Kremes. Yes, I felt stupid waiting that long for doughnuts, and the experience has affected me in ways I can't explain. There was so many people and it took bluddy ages. [:X] I also thieved Moonunits pixel people for my piece because I couldn't be bothered doing my own.

Sorry, you weren't seeing things. It was broken this afternoon because I was updating the site. Spent all afternoon modifying the whole site so I could shave 1k off the style sheet.. [:X]

pixel town has been like that for a while actually, and still is...

I've never noticed anything wrong prior to yesterday (I usually test on Firefox and IE6). It works now - you may have to clear your cache to get rid of the old style sheet (which stubbonly sticks around, sometimes after clearing it).

I seriously hate writing in this thread - some guy has subscribed to this, and there's a small delay because the server has to send out a notice to him (and the mail server is damn slow). The problem is that I receive bounced emails for every reply because his email isn't receiving them anymore. [:X]

ROFLOMG.. this is great, should start another town soon. Soon enough you will have Pixel State to browse through :D

Ok, here is the plan. This was a pretty fun activity, and it got some links and notoriaty from a few places around the net. So what I'm going to do is extend the town a bit more (approximately twice as long) so we can get some new occupants.

excelent, i didnt notice this until it was finished so i never got a chance to submit a piece. then again i have been to lazy to submit one for the pixel class anyway so i'm not that dissapointed. still, the town was great and i will definatly including something if it's extended.
