Red Ant Speaks Out on Aussie Rating System

Or, should I say, a lack thereof. It was reported last week that Blitz, an MA title for the Xbox 360 to be released on the 22nd of February, was banned in Australia. IGN has reported that Managing Director of Red Ant, Julian White, made some comments regarding the Australian ratings system:

This is very disappointing for gamers once again due to the antiquated guidelines the OFLC are forced to operate under. The Howard Government needs to amend these guidelines and understand that the majority of gamers are over 18. By not addressing this issue, gamers are being discriminated against by a few minorities that are just plain ignorant.

You heard the man. Quit discriminating. Even more fuel to support these words comes from the Interactive Australia 2007 Report – the study showing that the current average age of the Australian gamer is 28 years old.

I'll say it again, a ban in Australia is excellent free advertising! How many games do you think you can sell in Australia anyway?
