For our launch weekend special, The Mana Bar is also proud to offer exclusive early code of the new Xbox Live game "Raskulls," currently in development by acclaimed Brisbane-based games developer Halfbrick Studios. It will be interesting to see if this place succeeds. As gamers aren't really the going out type.

Lies. Either that or you simply haven't been outside for the last 20(+) years?
I think it's success will probably be based more on it's location than it's theme. Anyway, the claim to being the first game themed bar in australia might be a bit thin with BarCode (in melbourne) having been around for many many years (been around since at least early this century). Although it's more arcade than console focused. "Barcode, the ultimate Hi-Tech experience, totally unique because it's actually a 'Game Bar', the first of its kind to be fully licensed." Anyway, they're still around (i think they even have a couple of locations in melbourne now), so i'm sure mana will make ends meet as long as they're near the entertainment districts etc.

If you think gamers aren't the "going out type" then you clearly don't know the kinds of gamers that I do!!!! :D

Yeah you're pretty awesome. But seriously, I think the target market for this is a little uncertain. I'm curious to see the decore. Will there be a DJ? Will the music be loud? Will it be to get people dancing or will the club be for small groups quietly milling around a system with little movement? It could go off or it could be reeeeeally awkward.

More likely it will be full of game developers who've knocked off from work in the Valley... game developers ARE the social, outgoing, drinking type by-and-large.

Wow, no. Just... no.

Curious to see how it goes but I'm not expecting it to come anywhere near the real bars in the valley. A few of you will go, yes. But will you pour enough of your own income into their drinks to keep them afloat? Pretty sure Average Joe won't.

I think it's fair comment to say that hardcore gamers aren't the going out type. But this bar sounds like it is fairly small in capacity and will be aimed at more the casual/social gamer market.
(hence why they have Wii Sports and Guitar Hero installed, rather than something like Resident Evil or Call of Duty)
