Dissecta Event: Behind the scenes with the Scarygirl game

Location

NEXT EVENT TUESDAY 12th MAY 2009

Behind the scenes with the makers of Scarygirl the game with Tarwin Stroh-Spijer and Tony Polinelli from Touch My Pixel

Sponsored by Passion Pictures Australia

An indepth look into a beautifully illustrated and locally produced local game.
A free event starting at 6:30pm at the Experimedia, State Library of Victoria, Melbourne.

Dissecta presents Tarwin Stroh-Spijer and Tony Polinelli from local developer, Touch My Pixel to provide a behind the scenes insight into the development of Scarygirl, a locally produced and beautifully illustrated game that has just been released online at www.scarygirl.com

The game is based on designer Nathan Jurevicius’s well known Scarygirl concept, which already includes mini comics and designer toys. Scarygirl is the story of a little girl who was abandoned at birth, raised by a friendly giant octopus Blister, and guided by a mystic rabbit Bunniguru on her quest to discover where she has come from. It has been produced by Passion Pictures Australia with financial assistance from the Film Victoria Digital Media Fund. The game has been developed by Touch My Pixel with “in game” Flash animation from Renmotion.

Tarwin and Tony will cover how they became involved in the project, working on a pre-existing brand with the designer being on the other side of the world, the processes and technicalities of making the game and other insights in the areas of marketing the game, handling and reacting to feedback after release. They will also talk about their background and possible future pathways as well as what they perceive about the Australian game design community and more. It will be a fascinating presentation and we look forward to seeing you there.
