MELBOURNE - Tuesday 8 April, 2008 - Plans for the next eGames & Entertainment Expo in 2008 are well underway. Recognised as the leading exhibition for the electronic games and digital entertainment industries, event organisers Australasian Exhibitions & Events are gearing up for a bigger, bolder and more action packed expo than ever before!

The eGames & Entertainment Expo will be on again at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from November 14 - 16, 2008. Many of the big names have already locked in their space and are planning to showcase the latest and greatest products at the three day gaming and home entertainment extravaganza.

"The success of the eGames & Entertainment Expo speaks for itself when you consider that in just two years the event has consolidated its standing as the major industry platform to launch and showcase anything to do with electronic games and digital entertainment. We are delighted to have been able to deliver what is now recognised as the definitive industry event for Australia," commented Noel Gray, Managing Director of Australasian Exhibitions and Events.

"All the big names have utilised eGames in past years to promote their new consoles, games and home entertainment products to the market…and the crowds have rewarded them by flocking to the event each year in droves. eGames really has become a mecca for anyone with an interest - be it hard core gamers, families or general enthusiasts - in the latest game and electronic entertainment," he added.

eGames & Entertainment Expo 2008 will feature an increased range of range of digital entertainment products, offering visitors the unique opportunity to source absolutely anything and everything to do with home entertainment in the one place at the one time.

"We had a small number of exhibitors with home entertainment products at the show last year all of whom reported excellent results and we see this side of the show growing more this year. Buyers of the latest generation consoles are also updating their home entertainment systems and screens in order to realise the full potential of the new graphics so having a substantial home entertainment presence will provide an excellent synergy on the show floor. We are already seeing the signs that this will be the biggest eGames Expo to date," said Gray.

Multimedia Victoria has been an active supporter of the Expo and will again be a major sponsor for the event. There will also be an increased emphasis on education and career opportunities at the show. The support of educational institutions and industry experts means that visitors will be able to gain insight into what a career in the games industry can offer them.

Visitors to eGames will not only have the unique opportunity to try and buy the latest and greatest in gaming technology and digital entertainment but will also be able to participate in a wide range of exclusive ‘at show’ activities, competitions and fun over the three days.

Over 16,500 visitors of all ages - ranging from keen gamers to consumers with a casual interest in games and digital entertainment - attended the event in 2007…and pre-event interest is indicating that even more people will be flocking to Melbourne in November to get into the action at the 2008 eGames & Entertainment Expo!
