Emulator 2011, a classic gaming inspired event

Location

When: September 19 - 30
Where: 166 Ann Street, Brisbane, Australia 4000

Emulator will celebrate the importance that classic gaming (including 8 & 16 bit consoles and arcade machines) has brought to a generation of gamers. The event will also look to promote the gaming industry in Australia as well as connecting these developers to gamers. Furthermore the whole event will raise money for Starlight Foundation!

The events taking place at Emulator include:

  • An art exhibition that allows emerging artists from around Australia to pay homage 8-bit game inspired art.
  • Classic Arcade Retrospective: We will showcase a number of original machines including original parts, cases and art work. The best part of all, these machines will be 100% playable!
  • Challenge Nights: We will be hosting Brisbane’s first “Old School Arcade Battle” between local games developers. This will be a great opportunity to bring gaming back to a social environment. We will also host challenge nights to the public around classic console and arcade machines.
  • Industry nights: Theses nights will engage the local games industry and gaming community to meet through industry specific networking nights.
  • Local Game Developers Showcase: Highlighting games in development and future releases by the smallest game designers to major studios will be the key to this event. Allowing the local community to buy locally designed and programmed games from iPhone apps to console titles will help strengthen the local industry.
