Intake for the next Crash-Ed course now open!

The next Crash-Ed course - 'Introduction to Game Programming' - will begin in October, and will run for 6 hours on Saturday every weekend.

Introduction to Game Programming

"This course introduces the applicant to the fundamental concepts of game development, and takes them through the process of creating an complete game from nothing. Applicants must have a basic knowledge of programming, and should be familiar with the concepts introduced with Course 1 (see above). The course is taught in 'C', and covers both text based games and graphical 2D games.

The course covers concepts such as using middleware / existing libraries, timing, optimisation, graphics, sound, input, networking, different target platforms (i.e. PC's vs Consoles), code design and layout, and more.

Applicants should have access to a computer outside of course hours, as there will be several take home assignments and exercises which will require access to a computer. All required software is freely available, and is given to all applicants in CD form. It is expected that applications will spend at least an equal number of hours working outside of the course, as they do within the course."
