Firemint?s Mega Monster has won the Award for Excellence in 3D at the 2006 International Mobile Gaming Awards, held in Barcelona on 14th February.

Robert Murray, Firemint?s CEO said "We are absolutely delighted that Mega Monster has been recognized with the IMG Award for Excellence in 3D. Firemint has built a strong catalogue of 3D games and Mega Monster is our first original IP title, so it's doubly exciting for us. Releasing original titles is a long term goal of many game developers, so for a growing company like ours to have achieved this honor in the competitive mobile space is a dream come true. Our aim was always to create a game that is immensely fun, simple to play but very rewarding. We think steering one of our towering monsters around an interactive, fully destructible 3D city is something fresh and new in mobile gaming. We're eager to complete development and partner with a publisher to bring Mega Monster to phones worldwide.?
Mega Monster was one of 25 nominees short listed from 400 submissions from 42 countries, and was selected as the winner in its category by a jury of the mobile gaming industry's leading experts.

Firemint is currently seeking a publisher for Mega Monster, expected to be ready for release in early 2008.

Everyone here is really quite stoked about this. Its a huge achievement to get the award ahead of every other studio in the world, and backs up our reputation for having some pretty kick-arse 3D mobile tech.
