Sumea Cap for the Weekend

It's usually a slow news day on Fridays for some reason, and hardly any news is posted on the weekend's as well since that's usually my time-off-from-the-site time, so to tide things over this quiet period of the week, I'm going to begin a cap of interesting forum threads and other bits of news that's worthy of a mention here. Maybe this will be a regular fortnightly or monthly thing...

Stuff worth mentioning:

The models Kalescent Studios completed for Perception's Stargate: The Alliance game can be seen at their website, www.kalescentstudios.com. It's absolutely fantastic and very polished work. Definately worth checking out!!

CGNetworks has a great making-of feature on the work called ?Postcards from my Garden?, which shows the creative steps and decision making by local matte-painter/concept/Storyboard artist, Rowan Cassidy. It's always great to see local talent that is world class, so be sure to have a look. You can visit Rowan's website here! (I'm hoping to get an interview with him soon for Sumea!)

Which developers in Australia use Maya? If you know a studio that does then make a post in this thread! So far, we have Krome and THQ Studios Australia in that list?? Any more?

Indianna500 has made the move down under from the UK and needs some advice on some good places to rent or drink around Brisbane. Give him some good advice here! Some google map links would be pretty cool here too :)

AUDIO PEOPLE. We have created a new audio section in the forum for you. You can chat about everything related to audio to your hearts content there. Go on, do it! (Where's my believable speech synthesis for games, already?)

SUMEA MEMBERS. You can now upload images using Firefox and other browsers. Yes, please alert the internets. I should've fixed this, what, 3 years ago. :o

PROGRAMMERS. What do you do to get yourselves inspired? Read hardware reference manuals? Poke furry animals with a stick? Let us know how you do it!

Every community forum has one, and it's popped it's head on Sumea. The Sumea World of Warcraft thread.

The models on our website are just a couple of the total number of High Poly source models we produced over the 4 months - there was a total of 32 full models produced. High Polygon -> Low Polygon and LOD for PS2.
