Nintendo Flying High

Vooks.net has reported that the Nintendo Wii sold over 50,000 units in Australia in the mere three weeks of shelf-life since its launch.

In addition to this, Nintendo finished 2006 with an even more convincing performance, the Nintendo DS being at the top of the sales for all handhelds and consoles during the December selling period. This strong December performance boosted the DS to the highest selling games console of the year.

Rose Lappin, Director of Sales and Marketing at Nintendo Australia, said the following:

We promised innovation and creative thinking. We promised to bring gaming to the masses and make interactive entertainment relevant to a broader audience. We promised we would disrupt the industry. I think we have delivered on these promises.
