Universities take up gaming courses

"The thriving computer games industry in Australia is being taken up by the education sector, with new courses springing up.

Sturt University in Bathurst, NSW, began a Bachelor of Computer Science (games technology) in 2001 to a healthy student demand. Senior lecturer in computing and course coordinator for games technology at the university, Dr Wayne Moore, says the course is drawing students with high cut-off scores. He says the course, which attracts students with strong backgrounds in maths and computing, concentrated on games technology and programming. Students also learn how to construct virtual worlds and work together in project teams."
