Government neglects our games industry

AustralianIT has another article on how our government neglects the games industry..

"The federal Budget allocated $20.5 million to the Australian Film Commission (AFC) for 2002-03, and provides generous tax incentives to those investing in the Australian film industry. In addition, several states have their own initiatives for the promotion of the film and television industries.

The AFC provides some funding for "interactive projects" - including video games, interactive television and broadband content - but it pales in comparison to funding for traditional film and television.

AFC chief executive Kim Dalton said the commission gave out about $8 million in grants this year, but only $500,000 was for interactive projects."
