Grand Theft Auto back on sale in Australia

Those of you who missed the chance of getting a copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas can now rejoice as a new 'sanitised' version, which closes the capability for the "Hot Coffee" sex mod, has been released in Australia...

"The new version has been rated MA15+, according to information from the Office of Film and Literature Classification.

This is the same rating the game had before it was pulled from sale in Australia in July after a software developer in the US found the hidden scenes, which could be viewed by using a software hack.

The OFLC said the sex content had been removed from the new version of the game, which could therefore carry an MA 15+ classification"

As usual, I am stunned by the culture's ability to be prudish in regards to anything even remotely sexual, whilst at the same time having a full acceptance for violence. Amazing.

perhaps if the hot coffee mod had feature VIOLENT sex it would have been okay? ;p

For a country with LEGALISED prostitution, it's a very odd stance alright....

It's more the fact that video games don't have an R classification over here. If they can't classify it MA (which they can't if the ESRB gives it an AO), then they can't really give it a classification. On the one hand, it sucks to have the thought police stuffing around with our hobby, but on the other it's certainly an advocate for online delivery.
