Melbourne, Australia 15 - 17 July 2005

It's back and bigger than ever!! Presented by the Next Wave Festival and the Australian Centre Moving Image with support from Multimedia Victoria and the Australian Film Television and Radio School, Australia's leading independent computer game developer's conference takes place at ACMI from 15 - 17 July.

"The best games conference I've ever attended, probably because it was focused on individual game developers and enthusiasts rather than big companies...I found it really inspirational." Binh Nguyen, Attendee at Free Play 2004

Free Play: The Next Wave Independent Game Developers Conference caters for independent and DIY game developers, creatively frustrated professionals, game development students, digital artists and new media academics.
Developed by the indy game community for the indy game community, Free Play provides the only forum for Australian independent game developers to share knowledge, showcase their work and initiate new projects.

'Free Play is designed for independent voices, small budget creators, and those who don't fit the pre-packaged sales strategies to come together, strategise and celebrate their creativity,' says Next Wave Artistic Director Marcus Westbury. 'It's the game equivalent of hand-held, no budget, lo-fi, 4-track, DIY and it's probably one of the best and most vibrant areas of Australian culture.'
