IGN on eGames & Entertainment Expo 2006 - 'some teething problems, but entertaining.'

Anthony Hetrih over at IGN.au has just posted a wrap-up of the eGames & Entertainment Expo that took place over the weekend (well, Friday too) in Melbourne. The article is largely positive, but naturally some concerns were raised about the number of local developers that were in attendance (or not, as the case may be).

Can events like Game1 and eGames & Entertainment be successful in Australia? Should local developers support them more? Are they being promoted enough?

Have your say in the forums.

It would have been better if more developers where there! One major developer from the whole of australia decided to turn up (Auran), I think it was money well spent by them as it certainly developed some local hype about the game (over at pcpp forums people are chatting away about fury and whether they liked it or not) and gained them some valuable feedback.

In regards to attracting developers, I'm really looking forward to GO3 here in Perth next year.

There are a number of famous Japanese developers: Masaya Matsuura (Parappa the Rapper, Vib Ribbon), Goichi Suda (Killer 7) and Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Sega Rally, Space Channel 5, Rez, Lumines). There are also equal numbers of American developers (Rod Fergusson: Epic, Chris Williams: Lucas Arts, Harvey Smith: Midway) and local developers (John de Margheriti, BigWorld, John Passfield: Pandemic, Paul Turbett: Benevolent).

    Should be awesome!
