Big Ant's big plans for better AFL games

Company

Big Ant Studios are on a mission. The 80 team strong artists, programmers, and designers are working on a new and better AFL game experience and will be bringing them out annually for the next five years. Games journalist, Jason Hill, has written an article for Digital Life which describes what Big Ant Studios are up against and what their CEO, Ross Symons, is promising to AFL game fans...

From Digital Life...

(Ross) "We're trying to make them look as much like TV as possible, so if you walk past it, you won't know whether it's a game on TV or it's a video game. We're pumping out stuff that is photo-realistic."

The designer is actually sitting there watching football all day every day working out the tactics like coaches do," says Mr Symons.

I worked on the AFL games at IR Gurus, and I think the biggest problems they had was they were aware of the problems of the games they were making but team moral was so low no-one had the motivation to fix it up.

Sounds like Big Ant don't have that problem and focusing on fun game play from the beginning is the correct approach.

does anyone know if Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney will be included in the game?

I read somewhere that one of the reasons why the game has taken so long to be released was due to them including Gold Coast. I can't see them including GWS though considering they don't have a full squad yet.
