Company

Melbourne - Today, interactive handheld products company Wontom Pty Ltd announced the upcoming release of it?s handheld interactive gaming product for Smartphones and Windows CE PDA devices based around the highly popular ?Texas Hold?em Poker? game. The game, Wontom Multiplayer Poker which is in the final stages of development, will be released just prior to E3 next month, the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles California. ?We are extremely happy to have the support of the Victorian government and the Game Developers? Association of Australia in this launch at E3? said Andrew Heath, Director of Business Development. ?The Technology behind this title has been well developed and it is great to see the fruits of our labours in a commercial product? Heath said.

One of the most exciting features of the product is its use of Bluetooth? technology to create a multiplayer piconet, enabling players with Windows Mobile/Windows CE smart phones, or PocketPC PDAs, to link up and play together in a social game of poker. ?Enabling multiplayer games is a new area for Bluetooth? ? we believe that our product will be the first in the world to use Bluetooth? for multiplayer gaming. We have companion products in development, and are very excited by the potential we see in the market,? Heath said. ?We are planning further product releases by July, and our Poker title is being adapted for other Bluetooth? compatible devices such as PalmOS PDAs and phones.? Heath, who was one of the founders of Blue Tongue Entertainment, recently joined the Wontom team to assist in product commercialisation and oversee company growth.

Playing multiplayer games with your mobile is set to be the next big thing. Making calls, downloading ringtones and taking pictures was nice. But with highspeed local bluetooth networks between phones, why not play some high speed multiplayer games too?

COMBINING ONLINE POKER SPEED WITH SOCIAL HOME GAMES

"We made this game for ourselves," says Wesley, one of the game designers. "We got bored with how slow home games were. Shuffling, dealing, splitting chips and pots. We wanted the speed of online poker games, but the social interaction and people reading of home games."
