Robert Walsh Gamespot Video

Company

Aussie Nintendo has a transcript of the video that Krome Studios CEO, Robert Walsh, gave to Gamespot. Robert gives a sneak-preview breakdown of what you can expect in Ty: Night of the Quinkan, a little Ty history followed by Robert's thoughts on current gen vs. next gen. Also mentioned is the publisher switch for the Ty games...

"A great partnership with EA helped launch the series, but the folks at Activision were really excited to add Ty to their portfolio, so it seemed to be a good fit for us. We wanted to find a publisher that's as dedicated and excited about the family/kids' genre as we are, and Activision has shifted part of its focus in the last few years to become a very family-friendly organization. It's as simple as that, and we're all happy with the decision."

Interesting, so Krome dumped EA in favour of Activision because they wanted to find a publisher that was excited about family/kids games. Good move Krome, you rock. EA must be really pissed at loosing such an awesome game.

About time an Australian company told a US company what's the deal. EA must have been really angry having "launched" the series and then loosing it to Activision.

From what I've read publishers usually have clauses in their contracts to ensure that sort of thing didn't happen. Even with third party property. It's all very surprising.

I've also been reading that Krome has been investing heavily in the new TY animated series. That will be interesting to see when it comes out. Good on you Krome.
