The developer diary section at Gamespy currently has an article written by John Passfield, Design Director at Krome Studios. He covers how Ty, the Tasmanian Tiger came to be, from the initial idea, to the sketches, game design planning and story. Some cool concept art in there too!
"Both Steve and I had been dying to do a platformer since we'd finished the last Halloween Harry game back in 1996 and wanted to get the team involved. With a possible resurgence of the platform genre we saw an opportunity to make another fun action-adventure game."
