IGDA Melbourne: Get people to pay you to do what you love, freelancing with Mick Gordon

Location

When: 7pm-11pm,  Tuesday 17th, July
Where: 1000 Pound Bend, 361 Little Lonsdale St, Melbourne (round the back)

IGDA Melbourne have organised an event with one of, if not THE most prominent game audio artists in Australia, the one and only Mick Gordon. He's worked on some incredibly well known multi-million dollar franchises out there including the Need for Speed series of games as well as big licensed titles (The Last Airbender and Marvel Super Hero Squad: Comic Combat) for some of the biggest publishers in the business such as Electronic Arts, THQ, Warner Bros, and Sony Entertainment.

He's also worked with local studios such as Firemint, Torus, and Bane Games, and you can check out his incredible list of credits and awards he's received over the years on his website.

Mick's been in the audio and music freelancing business for yonks and for this special IGDA Melbourne event, Mick's gonna be giving the 101 on freelancing and spreading some valuable knowledge on making it on your own.

As usual, head on over the the IGDA Melbourne Facebook event page and put yourself down on the list if you plan on going so the organisers can get a good idea on turn out numbers. And if you have a few minutes free, read this highly informative background on Mick and his work at Gamecareerguide.com! (I'd suggest skipping the first half of page 5 though, that was seriously depressing).
